Helpful hints:
* ICANN regulations prohibit transferring a domain name that has been registered or previously transferred within the last 60 days.
* Verify that the email address for the domain name's administrative contact at your current registrar is correct. This is the address we are required to contact to request approval for the transfer.
* After we have notified you that the transfer is complete, log on to your account and verify the contact information for your domain. Inaccurate or incomplete contact data may result in the cancellation of your domain name.

Transferring a domain name to us often takes five days or less, but transfers may take up to seven days to complete. To transfer a domain name, we need some assistance from you.
Domain Transfer Process:
1. You should advise your administrative contact that the domain name is being transferred.
2. We send an email message to your administrative contact by the next business day to request transfer approval.
3. When this acceptance is received, we send a transfer request to the registry.
4. The registry sends an email message to your current registrar.
5. Most likely, your current registrar sends your administrative contact an email message to ask for your approval of the transfer to our registry. Please respond as directed.
6. Your current registrar sends an acceptance or rejection notice to the registry.
7. The registry sends an email notice of the acceptance or rejection to us.
8. We send you an email message to inform you that the transfer is complete. Should the transfer fail, we will inform you.

Difference Between Changing a Domain Registrant and Transferring Domains
Changing a domain registrant is the process of moving a domain from one account to another account, within the same registrar. Transferring a domain is the process of transferring a domain to an account with a different registrar.
Changing a Domain Registrant
You may want to initiate a domain registrant change under the following circumstances:
* You want to move your domain to another account with your current registrar. For example, you sold your domain to someone who has an account with your current registrar.
* You need to change the domain contact's email address and don't have access to the account. For example, the account that contains the domain belongs to a former employee.
If you have access to the account in which the domain is located, you can initiate a domain account change through the Domain Manager. For more information, see Initiating Registrant Changes.
If you do not have access to the account, you must complete the Request for Change of Account/Email Update Preparation Form. For more information about completing the form, see Completing a Change Form for Moving Domains.
Transferring a Domain
You may want to transfer a domain under the following circumstances:
* You sold your domain to another user who uses a different registrar.
* You switched registrars and want to transfer your domains to an account with your new registrar.
Transferring domains takes five days or less.
If you want to transfer a domain from another registrar to us, follow the procedure specified by your current registrar. To facilitate the process, verify the email address for the domain's administrative contact at your current registrar is correct and advise the contact to expect our request for approval. We use the administrative contact's email address to request approval to transfer the domain. The transfer can be denied by your current registrar. If your name was on hold or was released by your current registrar, please contact us to resubmit your transfer. For more information, see Transferring Domains to Us.
If you want to transfer a domain to another registrar, you must unlock your domain and initiate the transfer with your new registrar.
What do I need to do to transfer a domain to Walters Hosting?
We can accept transfers from any registrar, but each registrar has a different policy for approving transfers. Check with your individual registrar regarding their transfer policy.
NOTE: ICANN regulations prohibit transferring domains that you registered or transferred within the last 60 days. If your domain expired and you provide the required authorization, you can submit a request to us to initiate a transfer.
Does transferring a domain forfeit time left on the registration period?
For most domains, when you transfer your domain to us, we add one year to the existing registration period. When transferring .EU domains, you forfeit any time remaining on your original registration. Your registration for .EU domains expires one year from the date on which you completed the transfer.
